Serialization of medicines has a market of around ten billion euros

Every box of medicine on the market in the European Union, says the recently published Directive on Falsified Medicines, from February 9, 2019, must have security labels, tamper-evident features, and a verification system.

In Europe alone, serialization (unique digital marking of each product) needs to be carried out by 3,500 companies. The market holds potential of around ten billion euros, and there are only a few potential suppliers. And this is on a global scale. One of the globally recognized companies comes from Croatia – TradeTicity, a company that offers IT solutions for the pharmaceutical industry in product serialization. It operates on several continents, and last year it expanded its business to the nearby region.

– We have gathered significant investment from Southeast Europe and investors from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus strengthening our presence in all regional countries. We acquired the Croatian IT company Rebellis IT as it was assessed as the simplest step into the domestic market considering that we initially registered our company in the USA – emphasizes co-founder Lidija Pozaić Frketić, adding that they plan further growth and new hiring.

In addition, they have further improved their product in the last year and worked on its technological features so that it can be adapted to other industries.
