Hyundai Tucson – old name for new success

Hyundai has made another technical and design leap with the new Tucson, which will allow the new model to remain where its predecessor launched it – at the top of its segment.

After the successful career of the iX35 model, marked by excellent sales, it was time for a successor. Interestingly, the Koreans decided to bring back the old name for the new SUV, so the name Tucson is back in the saddle. An old name, but a completely new design and technology that will enable the new model to stay where its predecessor launched it – on the throne of its segment. Hyundai has won a large part of its customers with its appearance. All the technology and quality in the world is in vain if the packaging is not attractive. The new Tucson will have no problems asserting itself. The new model is 6.5 centimeters longer than its predecessor, while also being three centimeters wider. In addition, the trunk has grown to 513 liters. The interior features a large 7-inch touchscreen, and the equipment depends, of course, on the package.

New technological solutions

The new Tucson is built on a completely new platform and uses an improved suspension along with a number of other technological solutions. The engine offering is very diverse, and in the Croatian market, the basic 1.7-liter diesel unit has been in high demand, combining efficiency, low CO₂ emissions, and solid performance. It develops a maximum power of 116 horsepower, which is sufficient for a top speed of 176 km/h and acceleration to 100 km/h in 13.7 seconds with a consumption of just 4.6 l/100km (price 164,900 kuna). The mid-range diesel offering consists of a two-liter engine that develops 136 horsepower. The weaker version comes exclusively with an excellent 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive; the customer can choose an automatic transmission with six speeds and all-wheel drive for the two-liter version. In that configuration, acceleration to 100 km/h is 10.9 seconds, and the top speed is 184 km/h.

Object of desire

Due to the specific calculation of levies in Croatia (read excise duty) and the driver’s favoritism towards diesels, petrol models often unjustly fall into the background. The Hyundai Tucson offers two petrol engines, the weaker version without a turbocharger has 132 horsepower (price 154,900 kuna), and the stronger one with a turbocharger has 177 horsepower. It should be noted that the stronger model comes with a newly developed automatic transmission with seven gears and 4 x 4 drive. Hyundai has made another leap in the technical and design aspects with the new Tucson. There is no doubt that numerous advantages speak in favor of the new Korean model in our market, which will quickly become a reference and object of desire in its segment.
