It is difficult to calculate how much it would cost the state to reinstate the State Inspectorate, but it is known that its budget was between 130 and 170 million kuna per year. However, this money was returned to the budget in only a few inspections. In less than ten years, only the technical inspection in mining contributed one billion kuna to the budget.
The return of the Inspectorate was publicly announced by the Minister of Economy Panenić, and confirmed Andrija Mikulić, head of the Zagreb HDZ and vice president of the City Assembly. This former head of the sector in the State Inspectorate is also one of the candidates for the head of the ‘new old’ Inspectorate, which we learned unofficially, and he did not deny.
Inspectorate once coordinated activities and led dialogue with all ministries, unions, and the market, performing tasks that soon await Jakša Puljiza in other fields, besides inspection. It had five regional units (Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, Varaždin, Osijek) and 38 branches. Similar unified inspection systems exist in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway.
