Allocation of Funds from the Fund for Co-financing the Implementation of EU Projects at Regional and Local Levels

The Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds announced today a Public Call for the allocation of funds from the Fund for co-financing the implementation of EU projects at the local and regional levels for the year 2016.

The value of the Fund is 135 million kuna, and its establishment provides direct assistance to municipalities, cities, and counties in securing their own participation in the implementation of EU projects. The Fund is financed from 1.5% of income tax revenues, and unutilized funds are carried over to the next year. The funds from the Fund are non-repayable and earmarked, directed towards co-financing the implementation of EU projects at the regional and local levels for users who have signed a Grant Agreement from EU funds for the programming periods 2007-2013 and 2014-2020.

Local and regional self-government units, legal entities in majority ownership or co-ownership of local and regional self-government units, and institutions whose founders are local and regional self-government units can apply for the use of non-repayable funds.
The minimum value of the application for the allocation of funds per individual project through the Fund must not be less than 50 thousand kuna, while the maximum can amount to 7.5 million kuna.

The share of funds for co-financing is linked to the development index of the local or regional self-government unit according to the investment location.

For the least developed municipalities and cities, up to 90 percent of the funds are secured; developed ones can receive up to half of their own participation, while counties (depending on their development) and the City of Zagreb can count on funds ranging from 40 to 80 percent. The Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds will accept applications for co-financing from March 15, 2016, until the funds are exhausted, and no later than December 15, 2016, based on the principle of priority according to the date and time of submission of each individual application for the allocation of funds.
