A Handbook Containing All Information for a Good EU Project

For the period from 2014 to 2020, Croatia has access to 10.7 billion euros from European structural and investment funds. However, how much of this we will utilize depends solely on us.

Recent reports indicate that in the previous period we managed to ‘draw’ only about 50 percent of the allocated funds, which means that we now need to make an effort. Project applications can be submitted by users of state, local/regional budgets, public institutions, public companies, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, farmers, cooperatives… The key to success lies in the timely preparation of the project and documentation, and in the handbook edited by European Parliament member Ivana Maletić, with contributions from 13 other authors, all the information that can help ensure a good project is made is gathered in one place.

The book is composed of selected articles presented at the third international OFEL conference on corporate governance, management, and entrepreneurship held last year in Dubrovnik. In chapters resulting from the collaborative work of authors from six countries (Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, and the United Kingdom), the book integrates and synthesizes academic studies that connect organizational changes with the concepts of reputation and identity, while seeking to develop a set of categories that shape solid corporate governance that enables strong development, entrepreneurial activity, and competitiveness in both domestic and global markets.

Freedom or Death, a novel by the great Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957), author of the novels ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’, ‘Zorba the Greek’, and ‘The Brothers’, is a historical story about the epic struggle of the Cretans for freedom from Ottoman rule, a struggle that becomes an allegory of the universal struggle of man for freedom, wherever and whenever it has been fought. The protagonists are people of strong emotions, uncompromising and ready to die for their ideals at any moment. Each of them faces their own intimate contradictions, in the dilemma of how to reconcile belonging to a community and loyalty to a friend of another faith, how to cope with their own inner demons, and how to reconcile passions and desires that undermine each other. The novel ‘Freedom or Death’ is an enchanting ode by Kazantzakis to Crete, the Cretans, and the times of strong and decisive people.
