Koprivnica is Developing as a Smart City

As a result of the collaboration between the City of Koprivnica, Komunalac, and Hrvatski Telekom, e-invoices and e-records of municipal waste have been introduced in Koprivnica as part of the ‘E-city’ project, which will contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens as well as preserving the environment.

By introducing EBPP services and the Record of Municipal Waste Collection, the City of Koprivnica achieves significant savings, increases the quality of life for citizens, and protects the environment. Both services are part of the ‘E-city’ project implemented by the City Public Utility Company Komunalac in partnership with Hrvatski Telekom. – In collaboration with HT, Komunalac has introduced e-invoices that will modernize and accelerate business processes and continue working on environmental preservation. At the beginning of the year, Komunalac and the City of Koprivnica distributed 11,000 brown bins for biodegradable waste free of charge to citizens, and currently, in collaboration with HT, chips are being installed to create the conditions for calculating waste collection based on quantity – stated Maja Hleb, CEO of the City Public Utility Company Komunalac.

The EBPP service (electronic bill presentment and payment) is intended for all companies that send large quantities of invoices or payment slips to their private customers. This HT service allows bill issuers to easily convert their paper invoices or payment slips into electronic documents that are then delivered to their customers. The main advantage of using this service is savings, as there are no printing and mailing costs for invoices. It also eliminates the possibility of incorrect payments since the recipient of the e-invoice receives a pre-filled payment order, invoices arrive at their destination faster, and the issuer knows their status at all times – how many have been sent, to whom, etc. The EBPP service also has advantages for e-invoice recipients: invoices can be paid via online banking, debit and credit cards, or by using the photo payment service by scanning the barcode on the All Invoices portal.

The Record of Municipal Waste Collection is a solution that enables the billing of waste collection and disposal services based on volume and the number of collections or waste mass. Data on waste collection is transmitted to the application in real-time and can be accessed from any location at any time. The service is based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, which consists of chips embedded in containers and waste disposal bins, chip readers that record the containers and their emptying, and a computer application for data review and administration that connects the entire system.
