HT Raises Quality of Life and Brings Savings to Local Budgets

At the Lider conference ‘Smart Cities – The Future Starts Now’, which will be held on March 17 in the Small Hall of Vatroslav Lisinski in Zagreb, Igor Cerinski from HT will present examples of good practice and HT’s Smart City project.

In order for the realization of the smart city idea to be possible, it is necessary to have top-notch infrastructure. In this regard, Hrvatski Telekom made a significant leap at the end of last year when it completed the IP transformation of its network, thus becoming the third telecom in the European Union to transition all its users and services to an All IP environment. The company continuously develops a high-quality 4G network.

This, combined with the fixed network and the capacities of HT’s data centers, enables the creation of an ecosystem in which its Smart City project develops into a unique and comprehensive solution. Smart City, as HT’s project within the broader area of the so-called Internet of Things, signifies the advantages of using information and communication (ICT) solutions and digitized processes aimed at improving the efficiency of city management, enhancing the quality of life for citizens, and achieving savings. Hrvatski Telekom, a technological leader in the market, currently offers such a comprehensive solution in Croatia, from the level of basic infrastructure to specific applications, in collaboration with its strategic and local partners.

Examples of good practice, such as modernized waste management records, analytical reviews of traffic and tourism trends (Heat Maps service), an informatized network of e-charging stations (e-mobility), digitized operations of city services (e-invoice), and leading solutions in parking, traffic, and energy efficiency in cities, are already visible in the Zagreb, Split-Dalmatia, and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties, as well as in cities like Zagreb, Osijek, Rijeka, Velika Gorica, Koprivnica, and others. Dubrovnik-Neretva County was the first to focus on establishing a smart region as a strategic prerequisite for attracting investments, and the City of Dubrovnik officially became the first innovation, testing, reference, and sales Smart City center of Hrvatski Telekom. All these projects have a clear vision of raising the quality of life for citizens and achieving savings for local budgets.
