Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković has met several times with foreign investors in recent weeks, trying to present Croatia as a desirable and attractive destination for foreign investments.
For years, foreign investments have bypassed us due to the over-regulation of the administrative system and frequent changes in the tax and legal framework, which has been widely discussed and written about in public and media. The Prime Minister’s ‘offensive’ towards investors should change this image of Croatia as a country that is not particularly welcoming to foreign capital, and he himself claimed after a meeting in London that he is the only Prime Minister who has also been an investor, that he speaks ‘their language’ and hopes that this will be recognized and that they will start to view opportunities in the entire region differently.
A few days later, he reiterated that investors now trust us, but it remains to be seen whether this is only at a verbal level and whether any of that trust, which the Prime Minister speaks of, will translate into tangible investments in the economy. Therefore, in this week’s round of the Fight Club, we ask you: Will the Prime Minister’s meetings with investors bring more foreign investments? You can cast your votes and comments on this topic at this LINK where economic analysts Guste Santini and Damir Novotny, who have differing opinions on whether Tihomir Orešković’s meetings with investors can secure more foreign investments in Croatia, faced off.
