HT turns around business results and stabilizes key financial indicators after six years

Croatian Telecom (HT) has achieved a significant turnaround in its business results after six years and needs to focus on sustainable growth, which is a challenge for all telecommunications companies at the European level, stated Claudia Nemat, a member of the Management Board of Deutsche Telekom (DT), from the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

She assesses that HT has stabilized key financial indicators, with revenue growth and increased profitability.

“The leadership of HT has successfully set the company on a fast track, accelerating HT’s transformation and the completion of the transition to IP (Internet Protocol technology), as one of the first companies in the European area covered by DT,” said Nemat.

She believes that this is much more than a local success, but rather a key event that leads to DT’s ambitious overall goal, which is to migrate all lines to IP by 2018.

“It should not be forgotten that it is crucial to turn such successes into long-term sustainable ones and to transfer technological leadership to the best customer experience. We need to focus on this to achieve sustainable growth. This is a challenge, not only for HT, but also generally at the European level,” emphasized Nemat.

She announced that DT plans to continue significant investments in infrastructure and networks across Europe this year.

“Due to the continuous exponential growth of data traffic and high demands regarding latency, network quality will become increasingly important in the future, and without investment, it will not be able to meet the demands and needs of users,” Nemat points out.

PanNet, internet in airplanes and 5G

According to her, DT is focused on network issues in Barcelona, including the 5G communication standard, which should enable every individual, thing, or machine to connect to the internet in a few years.

The topic of discussion with partners and presentation at MWC is also the development of the pan-European network PanNet in the countries where DT operates, as well as the European network for internet access in airplanes.

Nemat emphasizes that DT has a significant role in shaping the 5G network, encourages public discussion about it, and is involved in the first phase of a public-private partnership in the EU in the area of the 5G network. She expects that 5G will be commercially realized by 2020.
