Veritas Technologies Operates as an Independent Company

Under the leadership of its new CEO, Bill Coleman, Veritas will focus on addressing the challenges faced by companies that are increasingly overwhelmed by the large volumes of data they collect and store.

Veritas offers business users software and services that they can use to collect, protect, analyze, and optimize their data, all with the aim of making informed business decisions, better managing risks, and reducing the rising costs associated with storing large amounts of data. Veritas is uniquely positioned today as it already protects 86 percent of the companies on the Fortune 500 list, allowing it to leverage this visibility to achieve better business results.

– In the era of the ‘cloud’, many organizations do not have their own data centers, and many may not even own the applications they use. Aside from your team, the most important thing you have in the 21st century is your data, stated Bill Coleman, CEO of Veritas.

– We are in a unique position as a company that protects information in business systems around the world, and I am honored to be part of the Veritas family and to serve our customers and partners, emphasized Coleman on the occasion of Veritas’s commencement of operations as an independent company.

– IT department heads today continue to face shrinking budgets, while both companies and individual users continue to generate more and more data. Successful IT departments must focus not only on identifying simple and cost-effective solutions to implement in the information management process, but they must also find ways to use this data to give their company a competitive advantage, emphasized Laura DuBois, Vice President for the Data Storage Market in the Corporate Segment, Servers, and Infrastructure at IDC.

Veritas is in an excellent position to continue innovating and offering new data management solutions. The areas in which the company offers its products will show a market potential worth $24 billion by the end of 2018. These are market segments that include secure storage and data recovery, integrated devices, data availability, and archiving solutions, all of which are areas where Veritas currently holds a first or second position in the market.

For over a decade, Veritas has been recognized as a leading company in Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant” both in the area of data backup systems for large enterprises and in the area of data archiving. Now, with the support of its new owner, The Carlyle Group, the company will be able to offer its solutions to this rapidly growing market more quickly.

– Veritas Technologies has been operating independently in all markets since the beginning of this month, including Croatia and the Southeast European region, with our regional operations headquarters located in Zagreb. Our companies, we are aware, are increasingly facing data management challenges: it is important today to know how to identify key and business-critical data, develop a data protection policy for data that must be retained, and implement a backup and archiving strategy to prevent data loss. A recent Veritas study at the European Union level, which is also relevant to our market, showed that companies only truly know what 14 percent of the data they store is about, while the remaining data is unstructured, unknown, or, very likely, redundant, which is also an issue that Veritas helps to systematically address. As companies of all sizes generate more and more data, many of which are sensitive in nature, the time is coming when the focus on information security and data protection will have to become increasingly significant, said Drago Gajski, Veritas Manager for the Southeast European region.
