Podravka and Sardina Conquer Russian Retail Chains

The company Sardina from Postira has secured a deal worth around one million euros in the Russian market this year through additional deliveries of canned fish and pâté, while Koprivnica’s Podravka has announced further expansion of its product range in the Russian market, as reported on Friday by the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) in a statement regarding the participation of these two companies at the PRODEXPO fair in Moscow.

Podravka and Sardina participated in the 23rd International Fair of Food, Beverages, and Raw Materials for Their Production PRODEXPO 2016, which is being held from February 8 to 12, where they presented themselves to numerous Russian retail chains as well as more than 100 regional, federal, and local retail networks, according to the Chamber’s statement.

“This fair sets the guidelines for the development of the Russian food industry. Therefore, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Russia, we have ensured direct assistance and support for Croatian companies in their promotion and presence in this market,” said the director of the HGK Representation in Moscow, Jakov Despot, as quoted in the statement.

Despot adds that HGK will continue to assist Croatian companies even more intensively in seeking business partners in the Russian market as well as in concluding new business contracts.

As emphasized by HGK, Podravka, which is the market leader in Russia for Vegeta and soups, presented its products and business opportunities and announced further expansion of its range. Podravka currently offers more than one hundred different products in the Russian market, which are available at as many as 30,000 sales points.

“Sardina has secured a deal worth around one million euros for 2016. This involves an additional delivery of 1.2 million cans of sardines, tuna, mackerel, and fish pâté,” HGK stated.

Additionally, alongside Despot, the exhibitors at the fair were visited by the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Russian Federation, Sandra Tvrtković, and the Economic Advisor of the Embassy, Maja Foretić Pećnik. Furthermore, the exhibitors were presented with the possibilities and methods of securing potential support provided by the HGK Representation and the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, and further cooperation was agreed upon for their presence in the Russian market.

This year’s 23rd International Fair of Food, Beverages, and Raw Materials for Their Production PRODEXPO 2016 gathered more than 2,000 exhibitors from 65 countries, and is held over an exhibition space of 48,000 square meters.
