God is a misanthrope and an alcoholic living in a social apartment in Brussels. He entertains himself by devising pranks, from the most benign to wars waged in his name.
One day, his daughter hacks the system and announces via SMS to every inhabitant of Earth when they will die. This turn of events disrupts the system of fear that corresponds to the Almighty. The film by Belgian director Jaco van Dormael works very well as a satire, much worse as a story about human goodness, and is particularly unattractive in its visual aspect with many stops and slow-motion shots, graphs, and animations, which was a trend at the beginning of the 21st century. Thus, van Dormael repeats his sins from past films, entangling himself in an awkward blend of metaphysics and sentimentality. It is a pity that it is not better developed.
