In early February, the first kindergarten based on the public-private partnership model began operating in Kamanje, and its business scheme operates in accordance with the Nanny Law.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Kamanje and Member of Parliament Damir Mateljan states that prior to the opening of this kindergarten, in collaboration with the craft “Vesela panda” owned by Mirjana Klemenić, the Municipality of Kamanje participated in the costs of accommodating children from Kamanje in institutions in the neighboring Municipality of Žakanje and the more distant Ozalj. Now, however, at the same cost, those children can be in the kindergarten in Kamanje.
The full price of a child’s stay at “Vesela panda” is 1,900 kuna, of which parents pay 700 kuna, while the remainder is co-financed by the Municipality. The cooperation model is such that the Municipality provided suitable space in its building, which was then arranged and equipped by the craft “Vesela panda,” which also employed two educators for this job, and will cover the associated overhead costs for the Municipality of Kamanje.
Caring for preschool children, Mateljan added, is a serious problem for the local population, given that this is a Municipality with a very high employment rate of the working-age population. With the decline of the “grandma-service” model, it was necessary to find a quality solution in its own space. Moreover, kindergartens in Žakanje and Ozalj are already full, and the transportation of children only suited those who were on their way to work towards Ozalj or Karlovac.
Given the capacity limitations and standards according to the Nanny Law, Mateljan announced the construction of a new kindergarten in the building of the DVD Kamanje. Full financing has also been secured from the EU Rural Development Fund, and a building permit has been obtained. The operation of the kindergarten is also planned according to the model of cooperation with a private partner.
