Tele2 Croatia Launches 4G Network Covering 90 Percent of the Population

Telecom operator Tele2 Croatia today launched a national 4G network offering data transfer speeds of up to 150 Mbps and covering 90 percent of the Croatian population.

– Where 4G is not yet available, users will be able to quickly access the internet through our recently completed upgraded 3G network, and now after all this, we cover the entire Croatia,” emphasized Malin Holmberg, CEO of Tele2 Croatia, at a press conference on Monday, adding that they are “the only operator in Croatia that provides access to the 4G network to all its users – both subscribers and those with prepaid plans.

Emphasizing that she has “high expectations” from the 4G network, Holmberg added that with the launch of this network, Tele2 Croatia has completed an extensive transformation and modernization of its network, which she labeled as the fastest.

Considering that Tele2 Croatia ended the entire last year with a slight decline in revenue and 21 percent lower profit than in 2014 (when looking at the results in Swedish crowns according to the report of the parent company Tele2 AB, as this was not reported by Tele2 Croatia), Holmberg stated in response to a journalist’s question that she is satisfied with last year’s results, although expectations were higher, and added that “this year will be better.”

Tele2 Croatia reported at the end of last week on the business results for the fourth quarter of last year, indicating that compared to the same quarter in 2014, it achieved an 11 percent increase in net sales, reaching 340 million kuna, while the quarterly profit (EBITDA) amounted to 23 million kuna, compared to 32 million kuna at the end of the same quarter in 2014.
