The conference ‘Personal Finance and Personal Bankruptcy’ organized by the Effectus College and the business weekly Lider will take place on February 11 at the Kraš Auditorium. It is dedicated to the topic of the new Consumer Bankruptcy Law, which is intended to assist over-indebted citizens.
The conference ‘Personal Finance and Personal Bankruptcy’, organized by the Effectus College and the business weekly Lider, is aimed at, among others, lawyers, notaries, financial and tax advisors, banks, insurance companies, companies with significant claims against citizens (telecoms, utility companies, etc.), and companies engaged in debt collection.
Since the beginning of the year, when the Consumer Bankruptcy Law came into effect, Fina has received 40 applications for initiating personal bankruptcy. This right is available to citizens who have been in a block for more than 90 days and have debts exceeding 30,000 kuna. According to estimates, around 20,000 people could apply for out-of-court proceedings at Fina annually, and 2,000 to 3,000 could end up in court bankruptcy.
