None of the crew members were injured in the pirate attack on the tanker “Pomer” from the fleet of Uljanik Plovidba, which occurred on the night from Wednesday to Thursday at the anchorage of the port of Kandla in India.
This was confirmed, media reports, by the director of Uljanik Plovidba, Dragutin Pavletić.
– None of the crew members were injured, and the material damage, thanks to the quick and professional response of the crew, is reflected only in the theft of part of the deck’s fire-fighting equipment and butterfly nuts on the tank covers, said Pavletić.
He added that the attack, according to the information he has, occurred this morning around three o’clock local time, and that six pirates were armed with cold weapons. The attack was reported to the authorities in Kandla. Pavletić also stated that the attack lasted about twenty minutes, and after the alarm was activated, the attackers fled.
The tanker is used for the transport of petroleum products and chemicals, built in 2011, and has a crew of 22 members. After India, the ship continues its journey to Singapore.
