Orešković: The Three Main Goals of This Government are Economic Growth, Competitiveness, and Quality of Life

Future Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković presented his Government in the Parliament. In a 30-minute PowerPoint presentation titled ‘Let’s Accept the Challenges’, he outlined the measures he plans to implement and the goals of the new Government for the next four years.

At the beginning of his presentation, Orešković presented statistical data about Croatia, specifically regarding the decline in living standards, public debt, macroeconomic factors…

– Twenty-five years ago, the Croatian people faced a huge challenge, we accepted it, and Croatia is today a free state, we now have new challenges, I am ready to accept them, we can again feel the thrill of victory – said Orešković.

– Our goal is to improve the economy of the Republic of Croatia and raise the standard of living for Croatian citizens, we will invest all our energy to achieve this goal – he added.

– We need to be ready to take responsibility and risks. We need to be ready to make significant and difficult decisions. This government will be ready to make tough decisions. The potential is enormous, and we need to activate it – he stated.

He highlighted economic growth, competitiveness, and quality of life as the three main goals of this Government.

Slowed growth, delayed restructuring of companies, very poor employment results, weak competitiveness, rising public debt, and poor management of the public sector are the main problems facing Croatia, claims Orešković.

– Croatian citizens demand that we raise the standard of living, and we must do this by investing in energy, tourism, and infrastructure – said the nominee, adding that his goal is to improve economic and social conditions in Croatia.

– We will not allow politics and other interests to lead us in another direction, and we will invest all our energy to achieve these goals – claims the nominee.

– We must be more prepared to take responsibility and risks, we must be more responsible members of society and care for the weakest, we must be more prepared to make significant and difficult decisions, be confident in our potential, and learn from the best. When I was in business for 20 years, I was never ashamed if someone was smarter than us, and finally, we must always be curious, Steve Jobs said ‘stay hungry’ – said Orešković.

Today, we are ranked 64th in the world out of 189 on the Doing Business list, and we should be at least in the top 50, believes the nominee. He stated that he will reduce unemployment and increase GDP per employee to 2000 euros, and announced that the main goal is to raise the credit rating in 2017.
