During the past year, nearly 5,800 new business entities were established in Croatia through the Hitro.hr service, of which almost 63 percent are simple limited liability companies, known as ’10 kuna companies’.
According to data from Fina, a total of 5,778 new business entities were established through the Hitro.hr service last year, which is a decrease of 4.78 percent, or 290 entities less compared to their number in 2014. Simple limited liability companies (j.d.o.o.) dominate the total number of newly established business entities, with 3,639 opened in 2015, accounting for 62.9 percent of the total number of newly established companies. Compared to the previous year, 10.4 percent or 425 j.d.o.o.s less were established last year.
At the same time, 181 new crafts and 1,958 new limited liability companies (d.o.o.) were opened in 2015. A comparison with data from 2014 shows that the number of newly opened crafts last year was lower by 50, or as much as 21.6 percent, while 10.4 percent or 185 more d.o.o.s were established.
The establishment of so-called ’10 kuna companies’ was made possible by amendments to the Companies Act at the end of 2012, and since then, according to Fina’s data, a total of 12,345 simple limited liability companies have been established. This represents 67 percent of the total 18,472 new business entities established from 2013 to the end of 2015. The largest number of ’10 kuna companies’ was established in the first year of the law’s implementation, namely in 2013, with 4,642, while 4,064 were established in 2014.
