How to Use Drones in Business

New technological advancements enable rapid progress in many sectors. A large number of companies will soon have their own drones. Croatia could ‘plug into’ the global trend: from training pilots and operators to the production of unmanned aerial vehicles. However, modelers need to be given the opportunity to engage in serious business.

In the latest issue of Lider, we present a detailed story about the use of drones in business, and here you can see which companies are already using drones in Croatia.

Agrokor
Already uses drones in agriculture, where they have significantly saved costs and increased labor productivity. Preparations for the introduction of drones into business are underway, as well as training for their pilots. Tisak also sees great potential in the use of drones in logistics, and soon, they say in Agrokor, the first shipment of specialized drones intended for logistics operations is expected, with which Tisak will begin a test phase of their application.

HT
Considers scenarios for using drones to accelerate the automation of mobile network planning to reduce operational costs. Within the DT group, drones are already used to measure signal quality around mobile base stations and to inspect mobile base stations. ‘We are monitoring the development of drones and will assess whether and when we will include them in the development of certain parts of the business,’ they say at HT.

HEP
Elektroslavonija Osijek was the first to start applying drones in business, especially for monitoring forest clearings under power lines. For example, when inspecting a power line, it no longer needs to be turned off, so all customers have electricity during the inspection, which was not the case before. For this reason, drones are, they say at HEP, extremely useful. HEP ODS Elektroprimorje Rijeka has had a relatively simple technology drone for the past year, without software upgrades, which is used to inspect sections of overhead power lines.

Vipnet
Continuously strives to apply modern technologies and tools that enhance its business processes, whether in terms of speed, quality, or safety. ‘We consider drones to be one of the elements that, through smart and innovative application, can make a significant contribution,’ they note at Vipnet.

Žito grupa
IN2 group recently presented a scenario for using unmanned aerial vehicles to collect data from sown crops for the creation of a digital orthophoto map and analysis of agricultural land conditions. Žito is interested in testing new technology and the possibilities of applying unmanned aerial vehicles.
