Končar – Strabag Consortium Builds Vranduk Hydroelectric Power Plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The companies Končar – Engineering for Energy and Transport, Strabag, and Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine signed a contract on Friday in Sarajevo for the construction of the Vranduk Hydroelectric Power Plant, valued at just under 60 million euros, reported Končar Elektroindustrije.

This is the first new hydroelectric power plant in the EP BiH system in the post-war period, and it will be located on the Bosna River, in the municipality of Zenica. The total value of the contract is just under 60 million euros, as stated in the announcement.

In the international tender for the construction of this facility on a ‘turnkey’ basis, the job was awarded to the Strabag – Končar Engineering for Energy and Transport consortium. Končar – Engineering for Energy and Transport (KET) will be responsible for the design, production, and delivery of the entire electromechanical equipment, its installation, and commissioning. In the equipment delivery, besides KET, Končar’s companies Generators and Motors, Electronics and Informatics, Distribution and Special Transformers, and Switchgear will also participate, while the turbine partner is the company Voith from Austria.

Alongside him, the contract for the construction of the Vranduk Hydroelectric Power Plant was signed by the General Director of the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda BiH, Bajazit Jašarević, and a member of the Management Board of Strabag, Dragan Pavelić.
