Excellent Results: Exports Grew by Nearly 12 Percent in 11 Months, Imports by 6.6 Percent

Croatian commodity exports in the first eleven months of 2015 increased by nearly 12 percent compared to the same period in 2014, while imports grew at a significantly lower rate of 6.6 percent, according to preliminary data released on Friday by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

According to these preliminary results, Croatian commodity exports from the beginning of last year to the end of November amounted to 80.55 billion kuna, which is 11.7 percent higher compared to the value of exports in the comparable eleven months of the previous year. At the same time, imports reached 128.95 billion kuna, increasing by 6.6 percent year-on-year.

This continues the faster growth of exports compared to imports, and the rates for eleven months are approximately at the same level as for ten months. The DZS also published more detailed data on trade for the first ten months of last year yesterday, according to which exports increased by 11.6 percent, and imports by 6.5 percent compared to the first ten months of 2014.

According to the preliminary data from the DZS on trade for the period January-November of last year, the trade deficit amounted to 48.4 billion kuna and was 1.38 percent lower than in the first eleven months of 2014.

Accordingly, the coverage of imports by exports in that period increased by 2.9 percentage points to 62.5 percent.

According to the preliminary data from the DZS, Croatian commodity exports to other EU member states increased in the first eleven months of last year by 15.4 percent compared to the same period in 2014, reaching 53.08 billion kuna, while imports from other EU members simultaneously increased by 9.18 percent to 100.11 billion kuna.

In non-EU countries, Croatian goods exports increased during that period by 5.2 percent to 27.47 billion kuna, while imports decreased by 1.38 percent to 28.84 billion kuna, according to the preliminary data from the DZS on trade in eleven months.

The DZS announced more detailed data on trade for the period January-November of last year for February 8.
