Fishermen who use unleaded gasoline will be able to receive tax refunds, and it is estimated that between 500 and 700 active fishermen will exercise this right, the Ministry of Agriculture reported on Thursday in a statement regarding the new regulation on the implementation of the Excise Duty Act.
The regulation on the implementation of the Excise Duty Act concerning blue-dyed gas oil for agricultural, fishing, fish farming, aquaculture purposes, and the refund of excise duty paid on unleaded motor gasoline for fishing purposes was published in the Official Gazette (No. 2/2016, dated January 5) and will come into effect eight days after publication. This regulation governs the right to annual consumption of blue-dyed gas oil for users of direct agricultural support and users entitled to consume gas oil for fishing, fish farming, and aquaculture purposes.
The new regulation also prescribes the method of refunding the excise duty paid on unleaded motor gasoline for the operation of fishing vessels for fishing purposes. The annual consumption quota is determined by the Ministry of Agriculture based on data from the Register of Commercial Fishing at Sea, Catch Reports, and the Fishing Fleet Register, according to the criteria set out in the regulation.
The right to a refund of the excise duty paid on unleaded motor gasoline for the operation of fishing vessels for fishing purposes is exercised by users of this right by submitting an application on Form ZRB, which is an integral part of the regulation. The application is submitted to the customs office competent according to the seat or residence of the user of the right, as stated in the announcement. Along with the prescribed application form, it is necessary to provide the documentation specified in the regulation. Applications are submitted separately for each four-month period in the calendar year, the Ministry of Agriculture notes.
