Tech companies are unmatched in employee benefits. The top-notch offices of the fortunate employees in Silicon Valley are still a future prospect for other mortals.
With foosball for relaxation, companies offer many perks to employees such as health insurance and paid sick leave, which is still considered a privilege in the United States compared to Europe. Catering to employees has paid off, as tech companies dominate Glassdoor’s list of the 50 best companies for the upcoming year. Glassdoor, an online job search site, conducts its selection based on surveys among employees of companies. According to this, as many as 21 tech companies made the list, with Airbnb, an online private accommodation rental company, taking the top spot. Airbnb made its debut on the list, displacing this year’s most desirable employer Google, which now ranks eighth. Among the top five most desirable are the management consulting firm Bain Company, Guidewire with software for insurance companies, HubSpot which develops software for online advertising, and Facebook. By providing employee benefits, companies are competing to attract as many top experts and talents as possible into their ranks, as they are not numerous.
Interestingly, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also appears on the list at 22nd place, surpassing, for example, Apple at 25th, Twitter at 26th, Wegmans Food Markets at 29th, Chevron at 39th, Red Bull at 46th, or Nike at 47th place.

1. Airbnb – the most desirable company to work for according to employee choice, valued at over $25 billion, offers maternity leave for mothers and fathers above the usual standards in America and quarterly travel vouchers
2. Guidewire – third on the list, the perfect blend of large corporate culture and intimacy in a small startup, provides support for everything that benefits individuals or groups of employees
3. HubSpot – fourth on the list, hosts ‘secret’ dinners for employees from various departments to connect better, one of the best companies for women, encourages further employee development
4. Facebook – fifth on the list, extended maternity leave to four months which benefits founder Mark Zuckerberg, provides gaming rooms, even egg freezing for women
5. LinkedIn – sixth on the list, gives all necessary time for special projects, pays for professional education
6. Google – eighth on the list, allows sleeping and resting in ‘nap pods’, socializing spaces, and dining in the form of a ski cabin, foosball, bowling, a rich menu, massage, the most generous maternity leave in America, employs homosexual individuals
7. Zillow – tenth on the list, a real estate site, employees praise the perks, free food, drinks, and snacks are provided
8. World Wide Technology – 12th on the list, deals with tech products and services, flexible working hours, possibility of working from home, family and fun environment
9. Mindbody – 14th on the list, develops software for health improvement and exercise which is also applied within the company
10. Expedia – 16th on the list, a travel advertisement site, particularly focused on retaining talented employees
