The new installment of ‘Star Wars’, as expected, is breaking all viewership records, and the published reviews are in its favor.
The engagement of J. J. Abrams, Spielberg’s spiritual apprentice and a man of great imagination and boyish enthusiasm, as the leader of this grand project seemed, despite the usual grumbling from some fans, like a natural course of events. The first 30 minutes of the film are the darkest part of the entire series, Abrams excellently builds tension, seamlessly introduces new characters into the story, and navigates the megalomaniacal action scenes with great skill. After a while, the CGI becomes excessive, the film is ultimately too long, and nostalgia is the prevailing ideology.
‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ may offer the best performances since the beginning of the series, the cinematography is consistently high quality, and the director’s signature does not fade in the face of production orders. Although there is no trace of the magic found in the first installment and this sequel will not be a life-changing experience for the new generation, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ will not disappoint even the most stubborn fans of the series. The foundations are laid, and with new installments, a new era of the most famous film saga is surely beginning.
