Citroën E-Mehari – Iconic Leisure Vehicle in a New Electric Edition

The Citroën Mehari may not have been the most popular model in our region, but, for example, in France it holds a firm place in automotive history. It is an unconventional, completely open car that was intended for leisure at the time, but, realistically, safety was somewhat secondary back then.

Citroën decided to revive the Mehari cult this year, first with the Cactus M concept and now with the production car simply named E-Mehari. It is logical that the addition of E in front of the name signifies the electric drive of the vehicle.

French technology The new Mehari will be powered by a 68-horsepower electric motor. This should provide the vehicle with decent performance and a top speed of 110 km/h. However, the Achilles’ heel of electric cars is certainly the range, or battery capacity. To address this issue, the Citroën E-Mehari uses a battery based on technology developed by the French expertise of the Balloré Group: LMP batteries (lithium metal polymer batteries) that allow for a large range and are efficient, reliable, and safe. LMP batteries stand out for their high energy density and for being safe to use. They are dry batteries, which gives them many advantages, among other things, they are not sensitive to weather changes and are equally effective in winter. Additionally, they have a range of two hundred kilometers, which is more than sufficient for everyday urban and suburban use. The battery charges in eight hours.

Flexible Roof Nevertheless, the Mehari offers primarily an extraordinary design on top of its technical elements. It features a raised body that is exceptionally attractive in appearance. In any case, you will not go unnoticed in the E-Mehari. The car has four real seats, and the biggest attraction is certainly the roof, which can literally be moved and placed according to the owner’s wish, separately above the front and rear seats. In the spirit of Mehari’s tradition, the side panels can also be mounted or removed, and part of that rich history is the plastic body construction, which means there is no corrosion, and it is also resistant to minor impacts as it is extremely elastic. When you want to wash the car, you can easily rinse the exterior and interior of the vehicle with a hose, which is waterproof.
