The president of HDZ, Tomislav Karamarko, explained in an interview for national television how the turnaround in negotiations with MOST occurred.
The head of HDZ reduced the rejection to two points.
– We came to the point where we had to sign two A4 papers on which there was a division of chairs. The other thing is that we have to sit next to Zoran Milanović and SDP. They have economically destroyed Croatia in the last four years. And their attitude towards Croatian citizens, defenders… Besides, I do not view this tripartite government positively. The negotiations have lasted too long, have become counterproductive, and have entered the realm of the irrational.
He added that they felt in the Patriotic Coalition like students in a classroom where a big teacher conducts some strange tests. He dismissed the possibility of returning to negotiations as Zoran Milanović did because he does not perform a somersault.
– There is a limit beyond which we withdraw. Those are the principles. This government was not for any reform. Suddenly, under pressure from MOST, it is for all reforms.
He dismissed the possibility that Zoran Milanović deceived him because they had already decided earlier in the Patriotic Coalition that they would not sign the proposed agreement. He also does not hold a grudge against President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović for not offering him a mandate to form a government as the relative winner of the elections. He is also not disappointed with the election results.
