The Croatian Electricity Exchange (CROPEX) will begin operations in January 2016 instead of this month as previously planned, and the opening of the exchange in Serbia is also delayed, with leaders of the two companies explaining the postponement by resolving technical and administrative details.
Experts have completed the algorithm for calculating market prices, and CROPEX will start operations in January, said Silvio Brkić, the CEO of the Croatian market, according to a Reuters report. According to him, CROPEX plans to join the exchange in Slovenia by the end of next year. The Slovenian market, on the other hand, was connected to the Italian market in the first half of this year, Reuters notes.
According to the news agency’s report, the opening of the electricity exchange in Serbia is also delayed, which was supposed to start operations in the third quarter of this year, and in the meantime, a postponement of that date has also been signaled for the beginning of 2016.
– The exact opening date will be announced by mid-December, said Dejan Stojčevski, the business director of SEEPEX in Belgrade, adding that the technical platform is ready, as well as the legal and regulatory framework.
