Lider and Bisnode compile the lists of the 300 most powerful women in Croatian business for the eleventh consecutive year. Based on these lists, the editorial team of Lider ranks the ten most powerful.
Instead of the previous ten-time laureate Ljerka Puljić, who is stepping back to head the organizing committee of Lider’s Women in Business conference, for the first time the most powerful is Gordana Kovačević. Gender (in)equality has emerged as one of the leading topics both in Croatia and globally. There are more and more initiatives and conferences dedicated to this topic, which in the new issue of Lider are discussed by the most qualified – the most powerful women in Croatian business, who themselves had to break the ‘glass ceilings’. In the new issue of Lider, we presented the tenth ranking list of the most powerful women based on managerial power (total revenue for 2014 of all companies in which they are in management or supervisory boards), which Lider compiles in collaboration with Bisnode. The editorial team of Lider has also selected the ten most powerful businesswomen this year, and the novelty is that for the first time Gordana Kovačević, long-time president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, is in first place.
Americans are pushing for political and security cooperation, for which Croatia is a key country in this part of Europe. However, they are not interested in stronger economic cooperation with our small market, and Croatia has not been able to capitalize on the American return to the region to open the American market and their investments. Will the new government know how to better utilize the fact that Croatia is the most important American ally in our part of Europe? This is a question that arises after last week’s summit of leaders from our region, where the main ‘face’ was American Vice President Joe Biden. So far, it seems to us that the Americans have benefited more from this alliance, writes Edis Felić in the new issue of Lider.
A lecture on the topic ‘How to Build a Culture of Employee Engagement in Family Businesses’ for members of the Family Business Club was held by Prof. Dr. Julie Felker from the University of Michigan and a professor at ZŠEM. Felker emphasized that the employer’s goal must be for employees to be as engaged as possible not because they have to, but because they want to. How? The story in the new issue of Lider is brought by Tin Bašić.
We agree; we accept; we agree to revise; we consider it fulfilled; we generally agree; yes, we support the proposal; yes, with the note – such ‘flowery’ words both coalitions responded to Most’s reform questions. The answers from both major coalitions are more lists of promises and agreements than programs, which were not seen during the campaign anyway. The SDP did not even refer to Plan 21, while the HDZ hid its alleged program like a cripple with a sick leg. Now it is clear that the economy will not choose the mandate holder, claims Gordana Gelenčer in the new issue of Lider.
One of the most famous winemakers from Istria, who exports malvasia and teran to the European Union and is currently negotiating with distributors from Canada and the USA, wants to position himself in the domestic market as one of the leading producers of high-quality wines and expand his business into agritourism. For thirty years, Franco Cattunar has been the owner of the Vina Cattunar craft, a winery and vineyards that span 50 hectares in Brtonigla, Istria, engaged in winemaking. Despite his vast experience, he claims it would take him another 50 years to learn everything about wine and create it to perfection for which he has set his own criteria, and in the new issue of Lider, Kati Pranić revealed that he has invested a lot of work, love, and four million euros into all of this.
Behind successful online sales stands a good logistics center. In the world block, we bring a story about climate change. Do you remember the agreement from Kyoto? This time, the UN climate change conference in Paris will attempt what previous conferences have failed to achieve – to reach a universally binding agreement for all countries. The mentioned Kyoto mainly referred to wealthy countries without the USA and Canada, Copenhagen did not succeed. Will it succeed in France?, asks Vanja Figenwald.
