Most has, according to unofficial information, proposed to the two coalitions, Croatia is Growing and the Patriotic Coalition, that they propose Robert Podolnjak for the Speaker of the Parliament. This was reportedly accepted at a meeting in the SDP premises by the Croatia is Growing coalition.
After the meeting of Most representatives with HDZ, Božo Petrov did not want to answer a journalist’s question about whether it is true that Most wants SDP and HDZ to propose Podolnjak for the leading position in the Parliament. He only said we will see what will happen.
– I would like to emphasize that we have had discussions with both the Patriotic Coalition and the Croatia is Growing coalition on identical topics, namely about harmonizing reform proposals, and we saw that both sides agree on this. The second topic of discussion was the way we see the formation of the Government. Our model remains the formation of a reform government by consensus. The third topic was what will happen tomorrow in the Parliament – he said.
Neither did Podolnjak want to confirm in an interview for Dnevnik NoveTV whether he is a candidate. The president of HDZ, Tomislav Karamarko, stated that Željko Rainer remains the candidate of the Patriotic Coalition for the Speaker of the Parliament, and any different decision can only be made with the consensus of the other coalition partners.
