Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev noted that Russia plans to cancel several important contracts with Turkey and ban Turkish companies from operating in the Russian market. This will be another of Russia’s moves following yesterday’s downing of a Russian military aircraft by Turkey.
– The reckless and criminal actions of the Turkish authorities… have caused a dangerous disruption in relations between Russia and NATO, and this cannot be justified by any interest, not even the protection of state borders – said Medvedev.
Russia has already recommended its citizens not to travel to Turkey due to terrorist threats, which has resulted in the cancellation of trips to Turkey by some travel agencies.
Additionally, Russia may cancel the pipeline project that was supposed to turn Turkey into the largest transit country for gas intended for Europe, as well as halt the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the country.
– The Turkish act is actually a protection of the Islamic State. This is not surprising, given the information we have about the direct financial interests that some Turkish officials have related to oil coming from refineries controlled by ISIS – said Medvedev.
