Apple’s decision to equip the latest MacBook model with only one USB-C port – intended for connecting peripheral devices, as well as connecting to an external monitor and charging the battery – has been quite controversial, but now we see that other PC manufacturers are following suit.
The idea of having one type of port that serves to connect all cables certainly has its advantages, but the main problem still persists, which is the need to connect multiple devices to it simultaneously.
The Branch project, which is currently on Kickstarter (and has already managed to raise the necessary funds although there is still just over a month left until the end of the campaign), aims to solve this problem. It is an aluminum dock that connects to the USB-C port and allows for the simultaneous additional connection of four standard USB devices, charging via the USB-C port, and connecting to a monitor via a MiniDisplay port.
