Tele2 Announces Launch of 4G Network in the First Quarter of Next Year

Tele2 today announced the completion of a comprehensive network upgrade scheduled for mid-December, which will double 3G data speeds and 3G coverage, resulting, they say, in the most modern 3G network in Croatia.

The new Tele2 network will cover 99 percent of the population with voice service and 97 percent of the population with 3G data service, as well as 98 percent of highways with 3G data service. Data transfer speeds will increase from 21 to 42 Mbps. The next phase of the upgrade will be the launch of a widely covered 4G network in the first quarter of 2016, announced Malin Holmberg, Executive Vice President and Director of the Central European Market and President of the Management Board of Tele2 Croatia.

By mid-December 2015, Tele2 will complete the full network upgrade that lasted nine months, although it was originally planned to take up to two years. This exceptionally fast upgrade was achieved through an investment of several hundred million kuna, utilizing the services of more than 500 external collaborators and increasing the number of employees by 25 percent.

– The quality of the 3G network is important because most users still use devices that support the 3G network, and we want to provide them with a quality user experience that they expect from a quality 3G network. However, by the end of the first quarter of 2016, Tele2 plans to introduce a 4G network based on cutting-edge future technology aimed at providing the best possible coverage for as many users as possible throughout Croatia. It is important for users that the network has wide coverage from the moment it is launched. The Tele2 4G network will be designed so that users of almost all 4G devices can have a complete 4G experience, said Holmberg.

Tele2 also presented today the Christmas offer “All the Best from the Far East,” which includes three new subscription packages for all existing and new Tele2 users. Each Tele2 Christmas package includes a PlayStation device.
