Representatives of national minorities inclined to support the coalition Croatia is Growing

Elected representatives of national minorities met on Monday in the Parliament, and the representative of the Italian minority, Furio Radin, reported after the meeting that there is a “general inclination” to support the SDP coalition Croatia is Growing in forming a parliamentary majority and government.

Whether this will be confirmed with signatures will be decided after consultations between some representatives and the associations that nominated them. Radin told reporters that all minority representatives were present at the meeting, including two whose mandates were confirmed only in repeated elections at seven polling stations on Sunday.

– The general inclination is to support the coalition Croatia is Growing, and for signatures, it is necessary to wait for the representatives proposed by the associations of national minorities to consult with those associations, said Radin.

Radin also announced that the representatives of national minorities will publish joint positions related to issues of national minorities and the promotion of tolerance and the rule of law, i.e., the Club’s program by the end of the week.

The vice president of SDSS, Milorad Pupovac, is convinced that the representatives of national minorities will agree by the end of the working week whether they will also support the political group with signatures that the Club of national minorities is inclined to support. He stated that the party bodies of SDSS have already made their decisions, but that they will align the implementation of those decisions with the decisions of other representatives of national minorities.

– Our position is that we go as a united club with other representatives of national minorities, and we will stick to that, said Pupovac.

When asked whether SDSS intends to participate in the executive power or just support the SDP government, he replied that “at this moment, the much more important question is what the government’s inclinations will be than whether SDSS will participate in it and in what way.”

– We want to strengthen the participation of national minorities in the political life of Croatia.

When asked why they decided to support the coalition Croatia is Growing, the two minority representatives did not respond, and Radin reiterated that it is “only about the general inclination that prevailed today and the atmosphere that prevails in the Club.”
