The total gross premium charged by 25 insurance companies in Croatia at the end of October amounted to 7.36 billion kuna, representing a year-on-year growth of 1.82 percent, announced the Croatian Insurance Bureau (HUO) on Thursday.
When viewed by total premium at the end of October, the largest market share was held by Croatia osiguranje with 2.01 billion kuna in premium, followed by Allianz with 1.04 billion kuna, while Euroherc ranked third with a premium of 667 million kuna at the end of October.
In the life insurance segment, the total gross premium charged at the end of October amounted to 2.39 billion kuna, which is 12.3 percent higher than in the same period last year. Life insurance accounts for 32.5 percent of the total premium. Within the life insurance structure, the largest share is held by traditional life insurance with a premium of 2.05 billion kuna, which is an 8.9 percent increase compared to last year.
In the non-life insurance segment, the gross premium charged amounted to 4.96 billion kuna, which is 2.5 percent lower than in the same period of 2014. Non-life insurance constitutes 67.4 percent of the total premium. In this segment, motor vehicle liability insurance remains the most prevalent type of insurance with a gross premium charged of 1.8 billion kuna. According to HUO data, this represents a decline in gross premium of 14.2 percent. Within this segment, the largest share is held by mandatory insurance for owners or users of motor vehicles against automotive liability for damages caused to third parties, where the premium amounted to 1.72 billion kuna, which is 15.4 percent lower than in the same period last year.
