Exit Polls: HDZ Takes Lead by One Mandate, Ostojić Calls for Karamarko’s Resignation

According to new results from exit polls published after 8 PM, the Patriotic Coalition has one mandate more than the group of parties led by the SDP.

The Croatia is Growing Coalition remained at 56 mandates, but the Patriotic Coalition has taken one mandate from Most, which now has 17 mandates according to the new results.

Three mandates remain with the coalition led by the IDS and the Living Wall, while the coalition of Milan Bandić and HDSSB has two mandates each.

In response to statements from HDZ politicians expecting that the party will ultimately have about ten mandates more than the SDP, Ranko Ostojić spoke out.

– Hallucinations are a common occurrence at HDZ, I expect Karamarko to resign due to the defeat by the Croatia is Growing coalition, Ostojić stated.

– We are in a position to form a Government. Of course, with MOST as the third strongest party. Discussions are forthcoming, and if they show a desire to participate in the government, an agreement is possible, Branko Grčić announced.

Does this mean that the SDP could offer MOST even the position of Prime Minister? Grčić could not answer.

Gordan Jandroković (HDZ) quickly responded to Ranko Ostojić (SDP).

– This is the swan song of Ranko Ostojić. He will be the first to resign, Jandroković said.

The exit polls were conducted for national television by the Ipsos Puls agency at 400 polling stations. Citizens filled out the polls anonymously with the aim of gathering the most accurate estimates of the election results. The survey was conducted on a sample of 34,353 respondents.

– This is only done so that someone can achieve better positions for negotiations, and that is not true. These are all political games. As for the programs, we can say that the programs are similar (to the SDP), especially in the economic part. Until now, there have been efforts to realize such programs. We do not have our political cronies and people whose interests we want to protect. We want to finally achieve change and make reforms, said the mayor of Omiš, Ivan Kovačić.

Everyone wants to be your friend now. Who are you closer to, HDZ or SDP, asked an RTL Television journalist to Kovačić.

– To no one. Some ideology of ‘partisans, Germans, Ustashe’ – we really are not interested in that. We want to make it easier for people to live better in our local and regional communities.
