Minister of Economy Ivan Vrdoljak and the President of the Management Board of Hrvatska elektroprivreda Perica Jukić visited today the new gas combined heat and power Block C of the TE-TO Sisak, which will commence trial operation after the completion of the so-called reliability test on November 5. Along with Block C, the Minister of Economy also visited the site of the future biomass cogeneration plant – BE-TO Sisak, for which a building permit has been obtained and construction will begin in December.
The investment value for the construction of the combined heat and power Block C of TE-TO Sisak amounts to 240 million euros, of which 88 million euros are utilized funds from the clearing debt of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Croatia from the period before 1990, while HEP invested 152 million euros in the project. Block C in TE-TO Sisak, with a capacity of 230 MWe/50 MWt, will replace the outdated Block A with a capacity of 210 MWe, which has been in operation since 1970 and technologically, environmentally, energetically, and economically no longer holds significance for the electricity system of Croatia. The new Block C will ensure 10% of the power of the electricity system and enable the production of about 10% of the total generated electricity for the current needs of the electricity system in the Republic of Croatia. Besides for the electricity system, Block C is significant as it will provide 75% of the installed thermal power for district heating in the City of Sisak and enable the production of about 85% of the total thermal energy generated in the district heating system of the City of Sisak. Along with the Russian partner, Technopromexport, the main contractor for Block C was a consortium of companies Monting & Ing-Grad and Končar KET. Block C will fully meet the currently installed thermal needs of the City of Sisak and the ecological standards of Croatia and the European Union for modern thermal power plants, while long-term increasing the independence of Croatian energy. Together with the BE-TO Sisak project, Block C provides a foundation for further development of the thermal network of the City of Sisak. After the completion of the trial operation, the occupancy permit for Block C will be obtained during 2016.
