What challenges and opportunities lie ahead for insurers?

Organized by the Croatian Insurance Bureau and the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the traditional conference “Days of Croatian Insurance 2015” will take place from November 4 to 6, 2015, in Opatija, serving as the central gathering place and the largest annual event for the insurance profession in the Republic of Croatia.

The primary purpose of the conference is to present current topics and issues to the insurance public in the context of the Croatian insurance market, with the intention of reflecting the current state and comparing it with the standards being aspired to. The official sponsor of the conference is the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia.

The central theme of the conference is the challenges, as well as the opportunities, that lie ahead for insurers, arising from the environment in the financial market, life insurance, demographic and market circumstances, as well as all challenges related to business optimization and profitability. This topic will be the focus of the first major panel discussion.

On the second day of the conference, there will also be discussions on how to achieve a better and higher quality level of cooperation between insurance companies and the Croatian economy, with the support of the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

Numerous esteemed experts from national, regional, and European levels will present and comment on current topics related to the state and latest developments in the Croatian and European insurance markets. A special guest and one of the key speakers will be Professor Karel Van Hulle, the “architect” of the new solvency and risk management rules for (re)insurers (Solvency II), who will deliver a presentation on the regulatory and supervisory framework of insurance in the EU, focusing on initiatives and further expectations.

Furthermore, the conference program includes several other major panel discussions focusing on attractive topics such as the future of motor vehicle insurance, IT solutions and applications in insurance, Solvency II, and health insurance as a potential new driver of the insurance market. This year, the conference will also include consultations on the processing and liquidation of automobile damages.
