Mini: Cabrio and Clubman – Exotic for True Enthusiasts

Mini is primarily sold in the basic version with three doors, but this British brand, under German ownership, has always had somewhat eccentric variants.

The same is true for the new model, which has recently received two interesting variants. The first is the Mini Cabrio, which has always been and remains a trendy car.

Precise and agile. Admittedly, the recent arrival of winter may not be the best time for a convertible, but it is no coincidence that it was announced right now – this gives potential buyers some time to think and manage to order it in time for the summer season of 2016. The design remains recognizable, extremely attractive, and it should be emphasized that the Mini Cabrio has four seats and now a slightly larger trunk with a capacity of 215 liters (when the roof is up). The roof remains fabric, as current trends dictate, and can be opened and closed electrically in 18 seconds; this action can be performed at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
The standard offering features a three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 136 horsepower, while for the thrifty, BMW, Mini’s owner, has offered an engine with 116 horsepower. Certainly, the highlight is the S variant with a four-cylinder turbo engine producing 192 horsepower, allowing acceleration to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h. Mini has outstanding driving capabilities. It is closest to the experience of driving a go-kart. It is precise, agile, and very lively. Although it is a convertible version, the car does not ‘tip’ in corners, which means that the reinforcements are well executed.

Station Wagon Variant. Not long before the convertible version, Mini introduced a new version of the legendary Clubman, or the station wagon version of the Mini. The Clubman leaves no one indifferent: due to its specific design, you either love it or hate it. Admittedly, in the new version, it has five proper doors for normal access to the rear seats for the first time. Until now, the rear doors only opened halfway, only on the right side. The trunk is also of interesting dimensions. It is a true small functional premium vehicle that has the premise of a family car.

When it comes to the engine, the entry-level petrol version One offers an engine with 102 horsepower, and for diesel, it should be noted the Copper D version with 150 horsepower and the strongest version Cooper SD with 190 horsepower. Other engines are the same as in the convertible. In our market, diesels will likely be more sought after than petrol versions. With these two versions, Mini has completed its offering; however, in Croatia, the classic version is still primarily sought after, and both Cabrio and Clubman are merely exotics intended for a narrower circle of enthusiasts.
