Prime Minister Zoran Milanović stated today that the latest World Bank report on the ease of doing business “Doing Business 2016” shows that Croatia is a good place for business while remaining a social state.
– In the last four years, we have jumped from 85th to 40th place out of 190 countries in the world, što je dobro – said Milanović, who is visiting Varaždin and Međimurje counties today. He added that Croatia has become a good place for business but has remained a social state that cares for the weaker.
– There are countries that are good for business but brutal to their citizens, while Croatia is a balance, a harmony – he stated. He expressed his goal for Croatia to enter the top 10 countries in Europe and the top 20 countries in the world on the Doing Business ranking in the next four years. The report “Doing Business 2016” will be officially released by the World Bank on Tuesday after 8 PM, and unofficially it is learned that, according to the new methodology, Croatia has ranked 40th on the ease of doing business list among 189 countries covered by the report. The greatest progress, according to unofficial information, has been made by Croatia in the category of international trade and the area of contract enforcement, while the biggest challenges remain in issuing building permits.
