Croatian Consortium Works on the Dugo Selo-Križevci Railway

HŽ Infrastruktura announced today that it has made a decision to select the contractor for the works on the Dugo Selo-Križevci railway, valued at nearly 1.3 billion kuna, and Dalekovod has announced via the stock exchange that the offer from the consortium of bidders DIV, Dalekovod, and Zagreb-montaža has been selected for this job.

– The company Dalekovod participated, as a member of the consortium of bidders, in the public procurement process for the reconstruction of the existing and construction of the second track of the railway on the section Dugo Selo – Križevci. The offer from the consortium of bidders DIV, Dalekovod, and Zagreb-montaža was selected as the valid offer with the lowest price – it is stated in Dalekovod’s announcement on the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

HŽ Infrastruktura has stated that in a few months, work will begin on the largest infrastructure railway project in Croatia so far, co-financed by the European Union, the reconstruction and construction of the second track of the Dugo Selo – Križevci railway. Six offers were received for the tender published by HŽ Infrastruktura on July 3 of this year, and as many as 50 percent of the offers were within the estimated value of the project, the announcement states.

– Based on a comprehensive analysis and applying all criteria of the public procurement process, the most economically acceptable offer was selected. The signing of the contract for the works will follow after the decision on the selection becomes enforceable, in accordance with the Public Procurement Act – announced HŽ Infrastruktura.

The estimated value of the works is 1.27 billion kuna, while the total value of the project, which besides the works includes the costs of supervision over the execution of the works, resolving property-legal matters, and unforeseen works, is estimated at 1.52 billion kuna. The project will be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund with 85 percent, while the remaining 15 percent is national funding.

– With this project, HŽ Infrastruktura contributes to achieving the goals of the national transport policy in the railway sector and confirms the commitment to use EU funds as the main source of financing, “the announcement states.

The works on the reconstruction of the existing and construction of the second track of the railway from Dugo Selo to Križevci, 38.2 kilometers long, are expected to begin in early 2016, while the completion of the works is planned for September 2019.

It is expected that the modernization of the Dugo Selo – Križevci railway will shorten travel time on this route from 30 to 18 minutes.

Planned activities within the project include, among other things, the construction of 6 bridges, of which two are road bridges, the reconstruction of the existing seven bridges, the abolition of 17 railway-road crossings and two pedestrian crossings, and the construction of 11 new overpasses, one underpass, and six underpasses. There is also the upgrade of stable electric traction facilities, modernization of signaling-safety and telecommunications devices, and the construction of 25 kilometers of service roads.

For the works on the Dugo Selo – Križevci railway, an earlier tender was canceled in March, and at that time, HŽ reported that the reason was unsatisfactory offers received for the tender. Namely, at that time, two offers were received for the tender, one of which was more expensive than the estimated price, while the other bidder took the company Pružne građevine as a subcontractor, which is contrary to EU regulations, as that company is owned by HŽ Infrastruktura.
