The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has announced the name of the recipient of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
The so-called ‘Nobel Prize in Economics’ has been awarded to Professor Angus Deaton, the author of the premise – “that to create economic policies that promote welfare and reduce poverty – we must first understand individual consumption choices.”
The award goes to Deaton for his analysis of consumption, poverty, and social protection. Professor Deaton is a native Scot and has been working at Princeton University in the United States for several years.
