At the finals of the Central European competition Central European Startup Awards, or CESA for short, held on Thursday in Vienna, Oradian won the award for Best FinTech Startup 2015 based on online votes from the public and decisions from the international jury.
Oradian has developed a technological solution for financial inclusion that plays a key role in reducing global poverty by enabling microfinancing for the world’s poorest populations, who have no access to traditional financing methods. Oradian’s product, the revolutionary cloud software Instafin, represents a breakthrough in the operations of microfinance institutions in Africa, which mostly do not use any technology, often relying solely on paper and pencil.
CESA consists of a series of events aimed at recognizing and encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit in Central and Eastern European countries, bringing together the best of the best from the startup community in this region and marking their significant achievements in 2015. CESA Best FinTech 2015 is just one of many accolades for this Croatian company, whose financial technology innovations have been recognized at festivals and competitions around the world.
Oradian consists of an international team of experts (totaling 10 nationalities), operates in Africa, and is headquartered in Zagreb! The startup was founded by Antonio Šeparović (CEO), originally from Korčula but raised in South Africa, Andrew Mainhart from the USA (Technical Director), German Julian Oehrlein (Operations Director), and Onyeka Adibeli from Nigeria (Director of Programs for Africa). The company currently employs 25 people, with plans for further team expansion in Croatia and Nigeria, as well as business development in other developing countries around the world – initially in Southwest Africa, followed by Latin America and Asia, with the goal of creating a complete ecosystem for financial inclusion.
