Energy Efficient White Goods with State Subsidy of 800 Kuna

The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund will launch the second round of incentives for the purchase of the most energy-efficient household appliances for citizens starting Friday, October 2nd.

The state will again co-finance the purchase of household appliances with an energy class of A+++, providing 800 kuna for this purpose, with a total of eight million kuna allocated for 10,000 such appliances. As in the first round held in June, citizens will be subsidized for the purchase of the most energy-efficient refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers at sales points across Croatia.

The public call will last until all incentives are utilized, and the websites of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Nature and the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund will feature a list of sales points with an overview of appliances and a counter with real-time data on sold appliances.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Nature, Mihael Zmajlović, stated that the funds for the new round of incentives were secured through trading emission units, the price of which has risen in the market, providing the Fund with additional revenue. Part of these funds will also be directed towards the energy renovation of family houses and apartments. The Director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Sven Müller, reminded that the first round of incentives for the purchase of the most energy-efficient household appliances for citizens, which took place in June, yielded very good results, with 10,000 appliances sold at 690 sales points across Croatia in just nine days.

In the first round, citizens predominantly purchased washing machines, with 8,994 units sold, while 63 percent of those who purchased an appliance with incentives replaced an old appliance with a new one. For 37 percent of citizens, this was their first purchase of such an appliance. The most efficient household appliances could be purchased in all counties and on web shops, with the highest number of such appliances bought by citizens of Zagreb, as well as Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Istria counties.

Müller emphasizes that the purchase of 10,000 A+++ household appliances will save over one million kilowatt-hours of electricity and prevent 235 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which approximately corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 73 households.
