Additional 50 million kuna for apartment owners for building renovation

On Wednesday, a public tender was announced for the energy renovation of multi-apartment buildings, which will last until November 12, 2015. A total of 50 million kuna has been secured for co-financing the energy renovation of multi-apartment buildings.

– This year and last year, we initiated the energy renovation of 366 multi-apartment buildings. This will enable better living conditions, lower energy consumption, and reduced costs for nearly 9,500 households. We have also approved numerous projects for the preparation of project documentation for building renovations. Many buildings are ready for construction work, which is why we have launched a new public tender for renovation and secured 50 million kuna in non-repayable state incentives for it. In addition to benefiting the residents of the buildings, these projects are good for the environment and the economy, as domestic construction companies are engaged in the renovation work,” said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Nature, Mihael Zmajlović, on the occasion of the announcement of the new public tender for the energy renovation of multi-apartment buildings.

– All buildings for which project documentation has been prepared with 100% funding from the Fund have a deadline of 2 years to start renovation work, and most have already developed projects that should reduce energy consumption by at least 30%. That is why we have secured additional funds and launched a new public tender for renovation, which includes thermal protection of the building, replacement of joinery, increasing the efficiency of heating systems, and even energy-efficient lighting,” emphasized the Director of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Nature, Sven Müller.

Buildings in Croatia consume more than 40% of energy, and their consumption is continuously rising. Due to poor energy properties and almost no thermal protection, they have significant thermal losses and require comprehensive renovation. Co-financing of measures in individual apartments is not possible because only comprehensive renovation achieves concrete savings and a higher quality of life. The energy renovation this year and last year covered 366 multi-apartment buildings housing 9,412 households. The total value of investments in the energy renovation of these 366 multi-apartment buildings amounts to 367 million kuna, of which the co-financing from the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency amounts to 150 million kuna.

The public tender has secured an additional 50 million. Co-owners apply for funds through the official building managers, and the condition for co-financing project documentation and energy renovation work is that the work achieves energy savings of at least 30%. It is possible to achieve 40%, 60%, or 80% incentives, depending on the location of the building, up to a maximum of 1.4 million kuna, and the Fund fully co-finances the preparation of project documentation.

Additionally, in the new public tender, the required documentation has been further simplified, so, for example, a land registry extract will no longer be required, and a new requirement is that the representative of the co-owners must also sign the co-financing agreement along with the building manager. Buildings that are approved for co-financing have a deadline of one year to start the renovation.
