Porsche 911 – From now on only with turbo engines

Everything in the automotive industry is transient, only the Porsche 911 is eternal. This could summarize the story of probably the most legendary sports car in the world.

Because absolutely everyone, even a complete novice, knows what a Porsche 911 is and, best of all, knows what one looks like. This is both a success and a problem for Porsche when it comes to this model. Namely, the true lovers of the 911 simply do not want any changes, while the market always demands something new. In that small space, Porsche’s engineers and designers need to work to satisfy the tastes of both sides. Therefore, the redesign of the Porsche 911, as always, does not bring any revolution; that would indeed be a mortal sin, but only a slight evolution.

The engine remains at the back The basic line has always remained easily recognizable, and the interior has again only been slightly adapted to technical progress. The engine is still located behind the rear axle, which is almost unique in the automotive industry today, and that is precisely why driving a Porsche 911 is so specific. Over the years, Porsche has also gained more and more electronics, so this combination of rear-wheel drive and rear engine is no longer a nightmare even for the greatest driving anti-talents.

Even more powerful True lovers of the 911 will not like the installation of exclusively turbo engines even in the basic versions. This is simply required by today’s strict ecological standards and the desire for as low consumption as possible even in that sports class. In fact, it involves two turbochargers that increase the engine power; it now amounts to 370 horsepower, twenty more than the previous model and an additional 60 Nm of torque. The Carrera S model is even more powerful and has 420 HP. On the road, the ‘ordinary’ Carrera reaches 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and develops a top speed of 295 km/h, while the S version reaches 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and develops a top speed of 308 km/h. Porsche offers a semi-automatic PDK transmission in the new 911, which is certainly a more rational choice, but there will still be those who want the classic manual H-shifter. The Porsche 911 with the new ‘facelift’ moves forward and will always remain one of the legends of the automotive world.
