Readers of Lider believe that politics must be removed from sports at all costs. This was demonstrated by the results of the latest Fight Club, where Mirela Holy achieved a decisive victory over Ivan Šuker.
– The mixing of politics into sports calls into question the positive social role of sports and indicates instrumentalization for political purposes, which is socially harmful – stated Mirela Holy.
– If we are going to remove all politicians from sports, then let’s remove them from all other social spheres as well. After all, this practice where people connected to politics lead sports associations is present everywhere in the world, and I see absolutely nothing controversial about it – said the defeated president of the Croatian Basketball Federation, Ivan Šuker.
As many as 95 percent of voters agreed with the opinion of the parliamentary representative, making this victory one of the most convincing in the history of Fight Club. It seems that the recent failures of the basketball and football teams, the fatigue of citizens with the same faces, as well as the already proverbial dissatisfaction with politicians have greatly influenced this result.
