The number of employees in the Croatian industry in August of this year is 0.2 percent lower compared to July, while on an annual basis, compared to August of last year, it is lower by 4.3 percent, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
At the same time, labor productivity in the industry in the first eight months of this year increased by 3.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
Statistical data by activity show that on a monthly basis, in August compared to July, the number of employees in the manufacturing industry decreased by 0.2 percent, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 0.7 percent, while in mining and quarrying, the number of employees remained the same as in July.
On an annual basis, in the manufacturing industry, which accounts for almost 90 percent of the total number of employees in the industry, there were 3.4 percent fewer employees than in August 2012.
The number of employees in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning in August of this year was 12.2 percent lower than in the same month last year, while in mining and quarrying, the number of employees was 7.5 percent lower.
Data on labor productivity, however, show that in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period last year, labor productivity in the manufacturing industry increased by 0.4 percent, in mining and quarrying by 4.1 percent, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 26.6 percent.
