In my ventures to concert stages in the region, there have been all sorts of experiences. At the top of the greatest disappointments is certainly that of Kings of Leon in Vienna at the end of 2010.
Kings of Leon have never been a bad band, but that performance was simply empty and cold, played according to a perfectly rehearsed scheme – something that any serious rock band must not allow. It was, in fact, just a continuation of the story that began earlier with their weakest album ‘Come Around Sundown’.
Three years later, we have a new, sixth album ‘Mechanical Bull’. Undoubtedly, this is a very good album. Stylistically diverse, it contains the ideal ratio of blues, rock, and country sounds. After a few listens, one can feel that sound and expression that have been the band’s signature in recent years. Now it is up to Kings of Leon to confirm this at concerts. Can this be declared a return to form? Certainly! To a peak form? We will wait for the next album…
