Former IKEA Manager on the Board of Directors of Volvo Car Corporation

Volvo Car Corporation (Volvo Cars) has appointed Mikael Ohlsson as a new member of the Board of Directors. Ohlsson is a former president and CEO of the IKEA Group, and he replaces Hakan Samuelsson in the vacant Board member position – the current chairman and CEO of Volvo Car Group.

Mikael Ohlsson worked for the IKEA Group for over 30 years, and he was a member of the company’s executive management for nearly 20 years. From 2009 to 2013, he served as president and CEO of IKEA Global Operations. Mikael Ohlsson possesses extensive knowledge in the sales segment of the business focused on end customers, making him an invaluable addition to the Board of Directors of Volvo Car Corporation.

 -I am thrilled about Mikael’s arrival on the Board. He has rich managerial experience in a global company. Moreover, he perfectly understands what it means to defend and build the Swedish tradition of Volvo on its path to transformation – emphasized Li Shufu, chairman of the board of Volvo Cars.

Mikael Ohlsson was born in 1957 in Helsingborg, Sweden, and studied industrial economics at the Institute of Technology at Linköping University. Ohlsson was awarded the Benjamin Botwinick Award for Business Ethics from Columbia University in 2011.
