International Innovation Exhibition – ARCA Coming Soon to Zagreb

More than 200 domestic and global innovations will be presented at the International Innovation Exhibition – ARCA, which will be opened on Thursday, October 3, at the National and University Library in Zagreb by the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts Gordan Maras and the President of the International Federation of National Organizations of Innovators Andras Vedres.

The day before the exhibition opening, on Wednesday, October 2, the 4th Conference “Innovations for Competitiveness” will be held at the National and University Library, focusing on motivating innovation activities in companies, innovations and intellectual property in the academic community, and the topic that will characterize this year’s ARCA – the need for a quality Innovation Law. These topics will be discussed by the Assistant Minister of Economy Sabina Škrtić, the Head of the Department for Innovations, Intellectual Property and New Technologies at the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts Antonija Mršić, the President of the Association of Innovators of Croatia Marko Bubaš, the Head of the Department for Regional and Rural Development and Strategic Planning of the Development Agency of Podravina and Prigorje Tihana Kraljić, Professor at the University of Zadar Petar Čovo, and Nelka Fikeys Krmić from the company Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

Successful Thanks to Innovations At this year’s ARCA, successful Croatian inventive companies will also be presented, such as Tehnix, which, thanks to the innovations of owner Đuro Horvat, currently employs 500 people and operates in several European countries besides Croatia. Đuro Horvat is one of the most awarded Croatian innovators in the field of eco-industry with over 50 registered patents. At ARCA, he will present a bioreactor plant for the treatment of municipal wastewater. Mate Rimac will present an electric bicycle, the company Končar will showcase an energy voltage transformer with an open core, and the successful young IT company Citus will present an interactive multimedia kiosk controlled by body movement.

From Innovative School Bells to Aids for the Blind A solar car, a mini mill for processing whole grains, an automated school bell, an electronic aid for the blind, and an energy self-sufficient house on water are just some of the innovative ideas and inventions that will be presented at ARCA by young innovators, students from primary and secondary schools from Osijek, Požega, Sisak, Ogulin, Karlovac, and other parts of Croatia. Despite their age, most of these young innovators already have a number of domestic and international awards for their inventions. 

Awards for the Most Successful The exhibition of innovations will conclude on October 5 with the awarding of prizes and recognitions to this year’s most successful innovators.
